Mischka never could decide. If it was nicer back then, when Ammi and Abbu were separated in their newlywed year (his promotion to regional sales in the country’s capital), and waited all day long for that one nightly phone call, her voice, all rosy cheeks, and his, a winter sun — or now, when her husband sent live updates every hour, trekking here, devouring that.
